Our History

South Greenwood Assembly of God held its first service Sunday Morning, February 23, 1986. The first service was held at 280 Galilee Road Greenwood, S.C. in the pastor's living room. The living room area was approximately 200 square feet. With borrowed chairs, borrowed song books, a homemade pulpit stand, and six people, we were certainly blessed and encouraged by the moving of the Holy Spirit to go forward to the calling God laid before us.
The first part of 1989, we purchased one half of our property at 911 Ninety Six Highway Greenwood, S.C.. In 1990, we purchased the remaining half. Also, we moved from the Pastor's living room to the Pastor's double-car garage which is approximately 400 square feet. We worshiped in this area with approximately 40 people until we moved into our new church building February 23, 1992. Our new church building has six thousand, four hundred square feet inside.
God spoke to the Pastor's heart (Rev. Carroll E. Harrison) July 1, 1981 while praying with his family in their home in Houston, Texas. The message was clear, "move to Greenwood, S.C.." From his living room July 1, 1981 in Houston, Texas to his living room in Greenwood, S.C. February 23, 1986, the church had its beginning. The vision was received July 1, 1981 and became a reality February 23, 1992 at 911 Ninety Six Highway, Greenwood, S.C..
